London-based skate kid, Blondey McCoy, started his label at 15 years of age. In true DIY punk spirit, McCoy’s prestige comes from the Southbank skate park where, as a local, he designed for a community that was dedicated to saving the park’s existence. Perhaps now that Southbank is saved, it makes sense that 19-year-old McCoy has focused his efforts on expanding his streetwear brand into a more prolific menswear market. Having already skated for Palace and Supreme, McCoy has also appeared in Valentino and adidas Originals campaigns, making the transition from skate gear to ready-to-wear a remarkably seamless one. Littered throughout the collection is a profane sense of humor and a retro insouciance demonstrated in graphic themes that play with pop and punk culture references from the 70’s and onward. The collection is entrenched in youthful energy yet embroidered detailing and sharp graphic design on hoodies, button-ups, and t-shirts represent an unmistakable layer of sophistication.
