Ascendant young Bulgarian talent Kiko Kostadinov established his namesake label for Spring/Summer 2016, with the launch of a directional ready-to-wear collection heavily influenced by uniforms and workwear. Following the widespread acclaim of his debut, the Central Saint Martins graduate quickly became one of fashion’s fastest rising stars, with unusual pattern cutting, meticulous garment construction, and sleek silhouettes as his calling cards. In addition to being named one of Forbes Europe’s 30 Under 30 in the arts, Kostadinov was appointed creative director of luxury heritage brand Mackintosh’s 0001 capsule line, augmenting its traditionally-crafted rainwear with a shot of his signature streamlined conceptualism. With his current menswear offerings, the designer continues to develop the stark visual narrative contained within his earlier work through the use of somber tones, asymmetric styling, and utilitarian accents.
