After a stint as a patternmaker at Sacai, Japanese designer Chiko Hashimoto launches her own brand, Harikae. Her Fall/Winter 2016 debut collection draws inspiration from Japanese folk art, combining traditional and modern techniques to create knitwear pieces that are both practical and beautiful. Hashimoto’s approach is rooted in simple, thoughtful designs that feature luxurious materials. Exploring a range of textures, she uses different knitting methods to achieve soft pleats and woven fabrics, completed with open-knit detailing and embroidery.
