In the 1970s, British fashion designer and counter-cultural icon Vivienne Westwood sent shockwaves through the fashion world with her provocative, anti-establishment designs—an aesthetic that would arise as the universal uniform for the era’s punk and New Wave movements. From her first boutique Too Fast To Live Too Young To Die, with its skull-and-crossbones branding, to the wildly-controversial SEX, a shop specializing in “rubberwear for the office”, Westwood yielded a variety of stylistic incarnations that were always two steps ahead of the cutting-edge. Westwood’s 1981 anti-punk collection Pirates—her first runway show, and one that inspired the New Romantics subculture—gained widespread popularity and dominated 1980s style, setting in motion and illustrious luxury fashion career with two consecutive British Designer of the Year awards. The designer’s notoriously rebellious spirit remains evident in her men’s jewelry. Crafted using sustainable practices, oval and square signet rings at cast in polished sterling silver and engraved with Westwood’s signature Orb emblem, while pendant necklaces feature crystal-embellished detailing and antique finishes.
