Bearing the aphorism ‘one house, different voices,’ Moncler Genius was conceived by Remo Ruffini as a hub for the fashion industry’s foremost minds. Taking a curatorial approach to design, the collaborative project invites eight designers to reimagine the Moncler identity via a series of individual collections in monthly roll-outs. First up, 7 Moncler Fragment Hiroshi Fujiwara sees designer and key industry influencer Hiroshi Fujiwara bring the language to contemporary Japanese streetwear to the venerable Moncler brand. Taking on a range of heritage designs with his ever-irreverent sensibility, the Fragment label mastermind melds grunge and après-ski signifiers to deliver a streamlined, Harajuku-ready urban explorer aesthetic. Vivid colors are offset with deftly chosen neutrals and an abiding penchant for typographic looks is expressed with text-heavy designs and a new minimalist take on the classic Moncler felted logo patch. Exploring the notion of ‘dress as habitat,’ 5 Moncler Craig Green sees the cutting-edge UK designer bring his penchant for workwear and utilitarianism to Moncler’s most iconic pieces. Reworked down-filled puffer jackets feature blown-out proportions, floor-length silhouettes, and ultra-functional harness straps.
