The Fukuoka-born designer's much-anticipated label debuted at Pitti Uomo 94 following his decade-long stint at the avant-garde Japanese powerhouse, where he worked as a patternmaker under Junya Watanabe and developed his own diffusion line under the brand. FUMITO GANRYU acts as a conduit for the designer’s explorations into the relationship between nature and the city—synthetic, technically charged fabrics are offset by traditional Japanese techniques of natural indigo-dyeing.
