Founded in 2021 by BROCKHAMPTON frontman Kevin Abstract, Video Store Apparel draws on the multihyphenate artist’s creative vision to turn familiar tropes into vibrant, contemporary streetwear. Taking cues from collective nostalgia for the bygone area of VHS rentals, the label finds inspiration from cozy essentials once worn to the video store and styles seen in classic movies and sitcoms. All-over VSA logos are rendered in loud colors on cozy fleece jackets, while streetwear staples like hoodies, sweatpants, and caps are peppered with winks to queer and internet cultures. Pieces that carry a hint of déjà vu—such as college varsity sweaters and layered T-shirts—are tweaked with subtle, tongue-in-cheek graphics.
