Nature designs itself. In any science textbook with a spiral shell or spiral aloe plant and the famed Fibonacci number sequence superimposed over it, the lesson was clear. Nature is miraculous; nature is math.

But it is, too, one of the first places we experience beauty—stepping out onto the sidewalk outside home to encounter a tall tree, spots of sunlight breaking through the leaves overhead, or tumbling into the backyard to get closer to blades of grass and the dandelions rising up in between. Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection was inspired by the power of imagination and the natural world, and by returning these garments to nature, patterns and rhymes emerge. In Los Angeles’s Huntington Botanical Gardens, photographer Kanya Iwana spotted the way cutouts in a garment evoke the contrast between shade and sun in an arbored space. The rounded abstract shapes designer Riccardo Tisci applied to a shirt gain a new resonance when juxtaposed with bulbous cacti. Here are the classic styles that are reinvented with every season, just like a garden in spring.
