Carven
French heritage house Carven was founded in 1945 by Marie-Louise Carven. Known for her use of feminine fabrics and global textiles like African wax cloth and Indonesian batik, Madame Carven provided women with an easy yet unconventional vision of luxury. Dior alumnus and former right-hand to legendary French designer Sonia Rykiel, creative director Serge Ruffieux ushers in a new era for the Carven woman. Off-beat, modern silhouettes abound by way of crop tops, voluminous shorts and miniskirts, and colorful overcoats, Ruffieux places an idiosyncratic spin on the house’s trademark ladylike aesthetic. Mix-and-match patterns, safari jackets, homespun embroideries, workwear-inspired denim jackets and wide-leg jeans, textural wool overcoats, and flowing floral dresses reference Madame Carven’s penchant for travel and textiles, while youthful basics maintain an air of sophistication with bright colorblocking and sharply-tailored structural accents.
