Hannah Simpson Studio
Out of her Kent, United Kingdom studio, artist Hannah Simpson has created biomorphic abstractions that integrate facets of the cheerfully surreal into the necessities of everyday life since 2020. After completing her studies in fine art at Loughborough University, Simpson found her distinct vision for design as an intern for sculptor Nacho Carbonell. Her self-named studio produces unique furnishings that come alive with experimental textures, creating their own distinct atmosphere while accentuating that of the home. Ceramic forms reflect the organic inclinations of the medium with natural curves created by the warmth and pressure of touch. The influence of modernist sculptors such as contemporary renegade Misha Kahn and iconoclastic Barbara Hepworth is apparent in the provocative silhouettes of ornamental objects like lamps and vessels. By liberating homeware from its conventions, Hannah Simpson Studio brings optimism and joy to the quotidian.
