Lado Bokuchava

Emerging from Georgia’s growing, trendsetting fashion scene, designer Lado Bokuchava creates contemporary garments and accessories with couture-level tailoring. After heading Georgian knitwear label Atelier Kikala and codesigning for heritage turned avant-garde fashion house Matériel Tbilisi, Bokuchava founded his eponymous label in 2017. Influenced by science fiction and the underground music scene of the ‘80s and driven by coexisting contradictions, Lado Bokuchava designs retro-futurist uniforms with sculptural silhouettes. Pattern design is central to the label’s creative process, and unconventional cuts interact with diverse body shapes in novel ways. Many items are made from recycled and vegan materials and include convertible elements, privileging multifunctionality and sustainability. Elegantly assertive, Lado Bokuchava’s smart pieces convey a sense of play and fine attention to detail.
