2024 IS THE YEAR OF THE TIE

From silk ties at Prada to bolo ties at LEMAIRE, Fall/Winter 2024 shows have been a breakout moment for men’s neckties of all kinds.

It’s not uncommon that accessories steal the limelight during fashion week, whether they’re playful, unmissable pieces like JW Anderson’s next round of bird-shaped pouches or, at men’s weeks, ties. In Fall/Winter 2024 collections, men’s ties were everywhere. Prada’s crimson silk ties leaned into classic design with pointed ends and solid blocks of color while LEMAIRE looked to bolo ties to add a twist to the trending accessory. Whatever form they took, men’s ties stood out as the accessory ready to sweep 2024.

Of course, luxury labels have been making men’s ties for decades—and sometimes centuries—so there’s a wealth to choose from to get ahead of the trend instead of waiting for Fall/Winter 2024. This list features bold hits from names like Engineered Garments and Burberry alongside more traditional editions courtesy of Thom Browne, Ferragamo, Bottega Veneta, and others.

Salvatore Ferragamo’s namesake brand has existed in the upper echelons of refined luxury since the 1920s, so it tracks that—even under the contemporary vision of Maximilian Davis—beautiful ties are a foundational accessory here. This red silk tie features a tonal jacquard graphic throughout for subtle texture.

Featured In This Image: Emporio Armani tie

With a legacy in retro tailoring that few can match, Emporio Armani is in prime position for a resurgence that has already been kickstarted by a collaboration with Our Legacy. In keeping with the label’s iconic relaxed tailoring is a range of graphic silk ties, like this two-tone iteration.

Featured In This Image: Thom Browne tie

“I feel like I still just do my thing. I don’t really care that much about everything else that’s going on,” notes Thom Browne speaking to SSENSE. As such, Browne has been making preppy ties for 20 years, trending or not. This striped tie is only 2 inches wide, offering unimposing embellishment to outfits.

The newfound appreciation of men’s designer ties means that the latest designs straddle classicism and modernity. In that vein, this Givenchy tie features a burning text logo stamped against the clean black silk construction.

Featured In This Image: Engineered Garments tie

It’s impossible to decouple the burgeoning tie trend from the prep resurgence that has been in progress for several seasons now. This Engineered Garments striped tie borrows from a history of varsity design with its regal colors and contrasting gold stripes.

Featured In This Image: Bottega Veneta tie

Taking a moment away from leather, Bottega Veneta continues to stun with beautiful textures with this wool tie. The beige wool features a checkered pattern that breaks at sections as though it has denatured over time. Black flecks within the off-white wool add even more intrigue.

Ties have always been a way to add a flash of color and vitality to formal outfits. Whether that comes in the form of luxurious fabrics like silk or, in this case, eye-catching floral prints is up to you.

Featured In This Image: Dries Van Noten tie

Dries Van Noten opts for a thin, 2.25-inch width to temper the striking embellishment of this silk floral tie. The pattern features a black and white backdrop with embroidered leaves whose pastel pink hue pops from the background.

Featured In This Image: Burberry tie

Burberry’s iconic Vintage check runs throughout this pure silk tie, acting as a bold logo in the absence of any actual logos. It’s a lively pattern that works well in both formal and off-duty settings.

Featured In This Image: Paul Smith tie

One of Britain’s most loved and most famous tailors, Paul Smith is a natural frontrunner in the men’s necktie revolution. Made in collaboration with New York label Commission, this tie still features Smith’s signature stripes as they break up the two-tone color palette.
