Diotima

Jamaican-born designer Rachel Scott pays homage to Caribbean handicrafts and dancehall culture with her New York–based label, Diotima. Many of Diotima’s signature pieces are the products of a collaboration between the designer and a group of Jamaican artisans focused on elevating and reinventing traditional techniques which are impossible to replicate with modern machinery. Since its launch in 2021, the label has delivered a collage of eccentric pieces featuring intricate webbed crochet and macramé fringes alongside tailored tweed and lace. Diotima’s line of Jamaican-inflected ready-to-wear expresses a lively take on slow fashion.
