J.Kim fuses Uzbek folk craft with elements of traditional Korean dress to create striking ready-to-wear garments. Launched in 2013, the brand celebrates founder Jenia Kim’s Koryo-Saram lineage with a selection of daring designs carefully crafted to convey various aspects of her multicultural heritage. Puffer jackets feature petal-shaped cutouts that reveal hints of deadstock suzani fabrics, while casual tops and lounge pants employ patterns inspired by traditional minhwa prints. Using a combination of soft cotton jersey, vintage Soviet textiles, and Korean jacquard silk, J.Kim weaves together a world of disparate sources to create pieces that are entirely unique.
