New York–based designer Aviva Jifei Xue draws inspiration from her upbringing between China and Japan for her eponymous clothing line, launched in 2020. The Parsons School of Design graduate is known for her craftsmanship, working with natural dyes and organic pigments in thoughtful refurbishment processes that preserve and showcase the peculiar weave and tactile quality of reclaimed, hand-woven fabrics. The brand’s traditional-meets-utilitarian aesthetic is realized in monochromatic or patchworked pieces with relaxed, oversize silhouettes that are easy to layer. Down to the minutest detail of a handcrafted ceramic button, Aviva Jifei Xue's pieces embody the one-of-a-kind value of artisanship.
