Keeping with a family tradition of garment-making first established by her great grandmother, third-generation couturier Cynthia Merhej described the launch of Renaissance Renaissance as a “celebration of women-led couture.” The birth of the Beirut-based brand coincided with Merhej’s homecoming after studying at Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art—mirroring the label’s designs, which are infused with the departures and overlaps found between cultures, generations, and epochs. Ruched two-piece ensembles and tulle tiered skirts in rich color palettes add texture to statement eveningwear, while hourglass silhouettes and puff-sleeved tops celebrate the body with a classic elegance. With a marked appreciation for artisanship, Renaissance Renaissance crafts time-honored womenswear from a bold new perspective.
