Phillip Lim launched his label 3.1 Phillip Lim in 2005 with cofounder Wen Zhou when both were just 31 years old, naming it for their age. The New York–based designer counts his city as his muse, but the optimistic, laidback attitude of his native California informs his sophisticated yet approachable designs.
