Since 2013, Parisian fashion house GAUCHERE has been bringing a subtle twist to ready-to-wear classics. A Parsons alum, the German-born founder and designer Marie-Christine Statz is known for her distinctive design and conceptual cohesion—imbuing a unique artistic sensibility into contemporary tailoring. Intrigued by the gendered differentiation in conventional couture, GAUCHERE combines varied references to tailoring in order to reimagine shapes. Fitted forms and oversized figures define the label’s collections. Pleats and padding extend volume to blazers, coats, and trousers, while oversized tops and subtle silhouettes create relaxed contours. All garments are made in France with high standards of craftsmanship and ethically sourced raw materials. Harkening back to traditional couture, GAUCHERE brings a contemporary vision to staple designs.
