Charlotte Knowles
x Harley Weir: RUBBISH
Turning Trash into Fashion

“We like the idea of images of rubbish printed on what was once rubbish,” says KNWLS, the label formerly known as Charlotte Knowles, “and recycled into something desirable.” In an SSENSE exclusive capsule, KNWLS collaborates with photographer Harley Weir to produce upcycled garments inspired by the unexpected charm of waste. The collection, all made from recycled polyester fabric, ranges from swimwear, dresses, tops, and leggings. The pieces are printed with photographs from a series of Weir’s called Rubbish 1.2—an ongoing collection of images of rubbish and refuse that she gathers throughout her everyday travels. A portion of the net proceeds from the sale of each item in the capsule will be donated to ocean protection. Only available at SSENSE.

Regenerated nylon means no raw materials were used to create this product—despite the rawness of the blooms on the dress itself.

SSENSE Exclusive Regenerated Nylon Legging with Leg Ties
While many make the mistake of recycling it, styrofoam is completely useless after it’s served its single function. The only place it belongs is in a photograph, and therefore on these pants.

While some are flashy, plastic bags camouflage in nature too, confusing wildlife and quietly disturbing eco-systems. While we recommend steering clear of single-use plastics, you can still wear one on your top.
