Serapis JEANS for Women
Prompted by a desire to merge the worlds of contemporary art and fashion with the Greek maritime industry, the elusive four-member collective, Serapis, was established in 2014. Paying tribute to the rich culture and strong work ethic of ship workers, Serapis holds personal narratives at the core of its design process, offering a heartfelt glance into the industry. Inspired by an abundance of historical archival material, Serapis blends the industrial aesthetic of traditional maritime uniforms with forward-thinking design and luxe, locally-sourced materials. Functional components of uniforms are elevated to refined garments—fluorescent orange safety vests are reconceptualized as elegantn dresses, woven from 100% premium Soufli silk. The transcendental aura of workers’ everyday processes further inspire Serapis designs: images from a shipping crew’s journey are rendered into large-scale prints on garments and accessories. Extending the distinctive nature of the brand, every garment belongs to a unique series of pieces, each with an individual production number written on its tag.Prompted by a desire to merge the worlds of contemporary art and fashion with the Greek maritime industry, the elusive four-member collective, Serapis, was established in 2014.
