Frustrated by the sheer volume of waste produced by the fashion industry, Australian designer Charlotte Hicks founded Esse Studios in 2017 to produce thoughtful, long-lasting womenswear. The University of Technology Sydney graduate spent several years working for labels such as Zimmermann and Sass & Bide, carrying her expertise into her sustainable line of minimal wears. Esse Studios counters industry wastefulness with its slow-release capsule collections. Intended to be interchangeable and fluid, brand staples like the monochrome asymmetrical dress or khaki wide leg utility pant remain timeless in any season. The brand’s simple designs are as intelligently considered as its materials, sourcing Italian cotton and high-quality yarn-dyed denim for its slower vision of fashion.
