Mother and daughter duo Raphaele Reponty and Hanalei Reponty-Gudauskas founded California-based Abysse in 2015 with the dream of making swimwear that puts sustainability and empowerment first. Sensuality and sportiness coexist in silhouettes, cuts, and patterns that seamlessly merge chic femininity with functional athleticism. Bikinis and full-body swimsuits are all locally made using recycled materials like regenerated nylon from repurposed ghost-fishing nets, while low-resistance, durable wetsuits are fabricated in premium Japanese Yamamoto Geoprene—an eco-friendly, limestone-based substitute to traditional neoprene.
