Being fit is a perennial concern of almost all of us, but it’s never such a prevalent thought as immediately after the holidays. A new year arrives with renewed hopefulness, determination, and desire for the body of a Greek god. It’s a modern preoccupation that we’ve seen tackled by luxury fashion in recent seasons, too, with brands like Martine Rose casting muscle-bound weightlifters in campaigns and others like Jean Paul Gaultier printing six-pack-adorned torsos onto its viral Morph sheer tops.
But while the idea of hitting the gym at 5 every morning might seem realistic in a post-holiday daze, it helps to have some concrete impetus as well. Handcrafted leather medicine balls, a set of walnut dumbbells, or a pure-cotton yoga blanket, for example. This kind of luxurious workout gear helps to shift the prospect of working out from a hindrance to a pleasure, bringing gym essentials into your home without ruining the aesthetic.

The best starting point of any fitness journey is to up water intake. Staying hydrated is the first step toward a healthier and happier lifestyle—and getting yoked. The list of benefits associated with staying hydrated is unending: It helps to increase resting calorie burn, naturally suppresses appetite, improves skin clarity, and generally oils up the machine that is your body.

Skipping is a universally loved exercise by the yoked for many reasons. First, its entry point is about as low as possible: Anybody can pick up a jump rope and start jumping. Second, it works multiple parts of the body; from cardio to core strength and calves, skipping for even five minutes a day will make a marked difference in the way you look and feel in no time at all.

Much like jump ropes, kettlebells are a starting point for many PTs. Just one kettlebell opens up the possibility of doing a full-body workout at home: squats, presses, curls, and everything in between.

The simplicity of the object is beautiful in its own right, and with a little creativity, medicine balls can offer a comprehensive workout. At 4.5 kg, this leather medicine ball from FYSIK is a convenient weight to be used across the board.

Recovery is as important as the workout itself. There’s no point going hard in a workout only to be out of action for the next week because of pulled or strained muscles. Something like a foam roller should be considered essential in a fitness kit. Excruciatingly painful and satisfying in equal measure, foam rolling is an acquired taste but one worth sticking to.

While weight training has classically centered on pull and push movements, modern training includes a much more varied palette of motions. Twists, static holds, and the like have entered into general workout vocabulary, and weights like the Bala Ring Weight facilitate them. The beauty of the Ring Weight is that, while it allows for rotation exercises, traditional pulls and pushes are still easy to perform.

The far-reaching skills that the sport teaches are central to its popularity, and when there are gloves as beautiful as these leather ones from PENT. on offer, the list of reasons to not start boxing grows shorter by the day.

This dumbbell set runs from 0.5 kg to 2 kg, offering a range of essential toning and strengthening exercises at home. Improve rotator cuffs, or work on stiff joints with the lighter weights—while they might not feel like a shortcut to getting yoked, they’re important building blocks to a balanced and healthy body.

Bala’s inconspicuous weighted bangles are a great way to work exercise into a daily routine. Wear them during a regular day to earn more for every movement, or use them to increase the burn of a workout.

While a padded yoga mat is a fundamental part of home yoga, many swear by the lesser-known yoga blanket instead. This multipurpose piece can be used as a cover during colder months, rolled up to cushion knees, elbows, or wrists during poses, or even as a bolster during seated poses.
