SGW Lab HOME
SGW Lab experiments with proportion and color to deliver a selection of handmade ceramics. Founded in 2018 by Japanese ceramicist Yuta Segawa, the London-based studio creates one-of-a-kind pieces using traditional techniques like slip casting, as well as unconventional methods like “body throwing,” in which the artist uses feet, the tongue or other body parts to sculpt the clay. Influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement of the nineteenth century, SGW Lab embraces the creative process and devotes meticulous attention to detail, resulting in a collection where no two pieces are alike. Mugs and tumblers featuring striking colorways and unique shapes are hand-formed and finished with specialty glazes developed in-house. Blending contemporary aesthetics with master craftsmanship, SGW Lab brings the beauty of imperfection into the home.SGW Lab experiments with proportion and color to deliver a selection of handmade ceramics.
