Feng Chen Wang SWEATSHIRTS for Men
Feng Chen Wang’s eponymous label brings to menswear a minimalist, conceptual, and, above-all-else, indelibly forward-thinking approach. The China-born Wang launched her first collection in 2015 upon graduating from the Royal College of Art in London, making her runway debut with a strikingly colored and tailored SS 16 collection at NYFW. Her menswear offerings have subsequently accrued increasing acclaim, with particular attention paid to her unique directional outerwear styles. Anorak, bomber, and puffer jackets in powdered pastel tones and glossy finishes use volume, selective proportional exaggeration, and textural accents to great effect, de-centering the conventions of streetwear staples to offer a refresher in true originality. Reflecting a similar detail-augmenting approach, hoodies, sweatshirts, and turtlenecks feature an auteurial take on drop-shoulder silhouetting, collapsing masculine tailoring clichés and intimating a sense of gender-fluid futurism. Striking, saturated statement pieces work well as contrast with the more subdued monochromes seen elsewhere in her collections.Feng Chen Wang’s eponymous label brings to menswear a minimalist, conceptual, and, above-all-else, indelibly forward-thinking approach.
