Camiel Fortgens TROUSERS for Men
Founded in 2014 shortly after his graduation from the Design Academy Eindhoven, Amsterdam-based designer Camiel Fortgens’ eponymous brand explores materials, shapes, and elements of archetypal men’s clothing from disparate eras and cultures. Employing a design ethos that explores unisex cuts and renditions of various iconic garments, Camiel Fortgens challenges the contemporary cut-copy-paste nature of the menswear industry through design. Advancing an offbeat approach to menswear staples, Fortgens’ menswear creations are at once instantly recognizable and inherently wearable. Bold reimaginings of the classic white t-shirt and blue jeans mingle with refined tailored trousers, hooded jackets, tongue-in-cheek graphic t-shirts, and avant-garde shirting options. Trench coats featuring both clean-cut and frayed edges demonstrate disparate interpretations on traditional men’s ready-to-wear. Fortgens’ expansion menswear line proves well-rounded not only in its use of diverse constructions and textiles, but also in its unyielding ability to bridge the gap between classical and experimental dispositions.Founded in 2014 shortly after his graduation from the Design Academy Eindhoven, Amsterdam-based designer Camiel Fortgens’ eponymous brand explores materials, shapes, and elements of archetypal men’s clothing from disparate eras and cultures.
