Authenticity and creativity converge in New York–based ready-to-wear label R13. After stints at iconic American brands like J.Crew, Tommy Hilfiger, and Polo Ralph Lauren, designer Chris Leba set up his label in 2009, ready to play around with what he had perfected. The label takes a studied but nonconformist approach to design, deliberately incorporating novelty into the silhouettes, proportions, and details of reliable classics. Signs of wear such as rips and bleach spots feature heavily on wardrobe staples, while camos, plaids, and leopard patterns ground the styles within the rock-and-roll aesthetic arena.
