After spending just two months in Paris' Ecole Superieure des Arts et techniques de la Mode, Simon Porte dropped out to start his own clothing line. Quietly elegant, Jacquemus (a nod to Porte's morther's maiden name) updates French classics like sportif suits and mariner stripes with new pieces refined yet deconstructed, casual yet strong. Porte uses humble workwear materials like cotton and wool to create his signature pieces, and he explores, via uncluttered cuts and primary colors, what makes a piece boring versus what makes it strong enough to become - and remain - a classic.
