Hanky Panky

In 1977 Gale Epstein created a matching lingerie set out of embroidered Victorian-era handkerchiefs for her best friend, Lida Orzeck. This simple yet ingenious handmade gift would fuel the inspiration behind what would become Epstein and Orzeck’s lingerie label: Hanky Panky. Despite being unfamiliar with how to run a business—Epstein has an Arts degree from the Parsons School of Design and Ozeck has a PhD in social psychology from Columbia University—the two best friends garnered attention with the establishment of a lingerie brand that emphasized quality and comfort as much as it did playful femininity. Dedicated to innovative design principles and domestic production, Hanky Panky distinguishes itself from other undergarment brands by manufacturing ethical and environmentally-responsible products that remain at the forefront of intimatewear. Known best for its thongs and signature lace fabrics, the New York-based label’s underpinnings arrive in a variety of flattering cuts and flirtatious colors. With notable celebrities swearing by the brand’s durable, stretchy, soft, and sexy undergarments, Hanky Panky has established itself as a household name.
