Anton Belinskiy BEACH HATS
Ukrainian fashion designer Anton Belinskiy launched his eponymous womenswear label in 2009, shortly after graduating from the Taras Shevchenko Republic Art School followed by the Fashion Institute of Technology. In 2015, he was shortlisted for an LVMH prize and further cemented his reputation when he founded the One Day Project in Kiev, a mini fashion week to commemorate the country’s independence and promote cutting-edge Ukrainian designers. Closely tied to his roots, Belinskiy alludes to his native country’s political landscape across his ready-to-wear collections, while also deriving inspiration from day-to-day life. Voluminous cotton skirts, tailored trousers, and deconstructed button-downs are paired with streetwear-inspired t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, and lounge pants featuring nationalist symbols like ID patches, passports, orange marigolds, and the national flag. His womenswear line juxtaposes fabrics and textiles in the country’s national colors, offering a visual commentary on Ukraine’s tumultuous Soviet past, while also reflecting the current generation’s forward-thinking optimism.
