After a decade in the streetwear, music, and art industries, Been Trill co-founder Matthew M. Williams launched his own womenswear label, Alyx, in 2015. Drawing inspiration from the subculture of his California youth, the New York-based brand offers a subversive marriage of pragmatic luxury and streetwear iconography. Fresh and streamlined tailoring counterbalances the striking volumes of crisp poplin shirts with imposing sleeves and generously cut skirts and trousers. All are crafted from carefully sourced materials like Italian shirting and intricate jacquards. Williams has been named as one of the semifinalists for 2016’s LVMH Young Designer Prize.
