Multi-hyphenate designer Jonny Johansson launched creative collective and lifestyle brand Acne Studios in 1997 by doling out 100 pairs of minimalist raw denim jeans exclusively to friends within the Swedish design community. Since its conception, the Stockholm-based studio has garnered an international cult following not only for its inimitably cool skinny jeans, but for its idiosyncratic interpretation of Scandinavian minimalism. In Spring 2017 label revisited its denim origins, refreshing and relaunching its denim line under a new mark—Acne Studios Blå Konst. Swedish for ‘blue art,’ Blå Konst sees the house refining its previous denim offering with a focus on timeless fits, classic washes, and non-stretch fabrics. Pared-back and enduring, the line’s core denim lineup consists of three newly conceived styles: the skinny-fit Climb, straight-leg South, and loose-fit Log. Rounding out its permanent collection, Blå Konst offers a selection of experimental, seasonally-updated ready-to-wear, including denim jackets and shorts, patterned knitwear and button-up shirts, t-shirts, skirts, and dresses.
