After a decade working for a medley of renowned European fashion houses, most notably Dries Van Noten, Central Saint Martins graduate Sander Lak launched luxury label Sies Marjan. Since its 2016 debut, the New York-based brand has been showered with a wealth of industry praise for its captivatingly unconventional take on luxury women’s ready-to-wear. An extension of its womenswear line, Sies Marjan’s menswear line features an equally eclectic selection of separates. The label’s distinctive éclat stems from the fearlessness with which it embraces bold hues, lush textures, and avant-garde shapes in unorthodox pairings. Sies Marjan’s honest and authentic energy is evident in its mesmeric garments and that range from holographic-bonded shirt jackets to bright knit sweaters. Lak’s subversive fabrications evoke a narrative of color and proportion, with loose-fit twill trousers running contrary to oversized faux-fur coats in rich colorways. Elsewhere, androgynous fluid garments, including wide-leg satin trousers and draped silk shirts, appear light and whimsical, personifying a polished eccentricity.
