Belgian fashion designer, Raf Simons, originally wanted to be an industrial designer until he saw his first fashion show, Maison Martin Margiela in 1991. He was so inspired by what he saw that he decided to switch to fashion and became a menswear designer in 1995. His collections are strongly cut classic menswear pieces with street-wear influences. Tailoring and innovation in style are his calling card and his work is considered highly influential by and to those in the fashion industry.
