Canadian jeweler Himo Martin turns to unexpected and overlooked sources of beauty for inspiration. In 2006, Martin founded Pearls Before Swine as a way of experimenting with the cultured pearl industry’s traditional standards of beauty. Rugged oxidized sterling silver creates a sense of rawness in thorn-shaped cuffs, wrap rings, and chain-link pendants. Traditional perceptions of finger adornment are slashed - quite literally - in the form of sliced pearls or irregular shaped and distressed signet rings. Martin combines an appreciation for precious metals and gems with a defiantly contemporary vision of fine jewelry.
