Established in 2016 by designer Ryohei Kawanishi, New York-based label Landlord presents a conceptual vision of streetwear rooted in avant-garde design. The Central Saint Martins and Parsons graduate harnesses inspiration from the works of contemporary German artist Isa Genzken to elevate the brand’s preeminent workwear aesthetic. Referencing construction uniforms, menswear staples are subverted with technical textiles and modern silhouettes. Oversized fishtail overcoats, reflective utility vests, nylon bombers, and boxy button ups are paired with French terry sweatshirts and graphic tees. Bright neon tones and metallic accents create contrasts while pragmatic embellishments like elongated safety belts and reflective patches complement the label’s industrial feel.
