After 48 seasons of mutual involvement in outerwear design, Andrew Lever and Philip Bull launched 49Winters as a reaction to a perceptible surge in single-purpose extreme weather coat brands. The heart of 49Winters is a fully-interchangeable three-component outerwear system that allows for a customizable lining-outer combination, allowing the wearer to select a preferred colour scheme and effortlessly modify their outerwear to match the day’s forecast. The outer shell layer offers the most stylistic variability, across three iconic styles: mac, parka, and utility jacket. The inner layer, a quilted down-filled jacket, mates to all outer shell styles by way of a unique zipper fastening system, and is available in a wide range of fabrications. The system is rounded out with an optional fur trim, fully traceable and sustainably sourced through Saga Furs of Finland. By combining stringent standards in sourcing and construction with a tasteful take on classic outerwear, 49Winters handily succeeds in its stated mission of providing a lasting, closely personalizable garment with universal appeal and functionality.
