A nightlife powerhouse like Ille makes us wonder how anyone else keeps up. Based in L.A. by way of New York, Australia, and the former Yugoslavia, the DJ, musician, manager, editor, and label head also known as Ilirjana Alushaj knows how to stay busy. A career that began writing for music publications while studying sound design and digital media in university soon grew organically into party planning and DJing, stints performing in the tribal post-punk act Apache Beat and side projects Typical Girls and Girl Crisis, and eventually founding her own record label and online magazine, The Pop Manifesto. A steady DJing schedule and lively dress sense keep Alushaj plugged into the worlds of both fashion and nightlife. And if that wasn’t enough, she also manages talent spanning from musicians Blood Diamonds and Alison Valentine to Nike pro skater Stefan Janoski. Sounds overwhelming? Her mixing skills, spanning party-ready pop, garage, and bassline alike, make it all look effortless.
Ille’s mix begins with UK garage from Artful Dodger and Gemma Fox and keeps the energy going, finishing with remixes of Beyoncé, Aaliyah, and Craig David.
