Lacoste Jackets

Lacoste founder and 1920’s tennis star René Lacoste is best known for inventing the iconic short sleeve cotton piqué L1212 polo shirt that enabled better movement for players on the court. His nickname ‘The Crocodile’ inspired the instantly-recognizable green logo that helped cement the French casualwear brand as fashion symbol of the 20th century. Many incarnations later, the crocodile remains at the centre of its modern womenswear designs. Synonymous with sporty functionality, the label's elegant-meets-urban silhouettes continue to find relevance in an ever-changing contemporary fashion landscape as creative director Louise Trotter expresses a natural ability to pattern forward-facing reconstructions of classics. Now embarking on a new chapter in Lacoste’s rich history, oversized incarnations and novel forms add street appeal to the label's cotton piqué classics, while turtlenecks, dresses, and baseball caps enjoy invigorating tweaks. Sophisticated plissé skirts drape below the knee while beautifully tailored mac jackets are constructed with intricacies, emphasizing the now Swiss-owned house’s ultramodern synthesis of sport and style. Cable knit V-neck cricket sweaters with giant deconstructed croc logos and double-breasted wool coats attest to an elevated approach, all the while conserving Lacoste's je-ne-sais-quoi and French personality nearly a century after opening its doors.
