Dr. Martens
The origins of the iconic Dr. Martens label can be traced back to 1945 when its namesake founder, Dr. Klaus Maertens, developed an innovative air cushion–soled shoe to help with a foot injury. In the decades since, the British label has become a household name, known for its reliable, army- and workwear-inspired designs. Initially worn by blue-collar workers, Dr. Martens was eventually picked up as a favorite among youth subcultures, changing the functional workwear boot into an alt essential. Today, the label has evolved to offer a range of shoe styles, from the original 1460 boot to platform oxfords—all with the signature yellow topstitching at the welt. Both classic and cool, Dr. Martens maintains its hold on contemporary culture through its authentic and reliable footwear.
