Hailing from Belgium, The Royal Academy of Antwerp-graduate Glenn Martens worked under iconic French designer Jean Paul Gaultier and founded his own namesake label before taking the reigns at Parisian unisex label Y/Project in 2013. Drawing inspiration from an eclectic mix of historical and subcultural references, Martens’ brings a radically experimental vision to the brand’s ready-to-wear, pushing the codes of classic menswear to new extremes with unconventional cuts and gender-bending silhouettes. The label’s signature reconstructed denim comes in the form of layered jeans and slashed cut-out jackets. Classically tailored separates including trench coats, blazers, and button-down shirts are reimagined in drastically avant-garde silhouettes, while streetwear staples including t-shirts, pullovers, and hoodies are reconfigured in endlessly modifiable constructions.
