Proenza Schouler is a New York based modern luxury women's wear and accessories label, founded in 2002 by designers, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. Both graduates of Parson's School of Design, the pair co-designed a senior thesis collection that was so successful Barneys New York bought the entire line. Thus, Proenza Schouler was born. A combination of the pair's mother's maiden names, Proenza Schouler is a favorite amongst chic downtown girls due to its intricately constructed minimalist silhouettes, muted colours, artful layering, impeccable tailoring and subtle sexuality. Fans of the label include nonchalantly cool girls Kirsten Dunst, Chloe Sevigny and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Winners of the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year Award in 2007, Proenza Schouler is sold in over 100 of the most exclusive retail outlets worldwide, including Bergdorf Goodman, Harvey Nichols and Colette.
