The Institute of Contemporary Arts in London is hosting Juergen Teller: Woo!, a comprehensive retrospective of the renowned German photographer’s career. The exhibition, which will run from now until March 17th 2013, begins with his first professional foray into photography upon his arrival to London in 1986, and moves on to explore his fashion, commercial, autobiographical and celebrity photographs, along with his more controversial work including a weekly column in German newspaper Die Zeit (and the letters of complaint it sparked among readers). The show will spotlight some of Teller’s most iconic images, featuring the likes of Kate Moss, Bjork, William Eggleston, and his infamous series of Vivienne Westwood nudes.

Famous for his quirky, humorous aesthetic and oversaturated style, Teller is celebrated for his ability to “subvert the conventional relationship of the artist and model” – his work is often critiqued for his unwillingness to separate his more autobiographical work from his commercial and fashion photography, thus blurring the boundaries of mainstream art and photography.
