Collectors, curators and gallerists converge in Basel for Design Miami/, the art world's premier forum for contemporary design. Occurring in tandem with the biannual Art Basel fairs, Design Miami/ promises six days of immersion in the latest trends in furniture, lighting and collectible design. Exhibitions from the world's top galleries combine commercial showcases with an ever-expanding range of cultural programming designed to forge connections between the worlds of art, architecture, fashion, and design. Think half trade fair, half group show.
What's on our radar this year? Gold jewelry in the trademark monolithic forms of Anish Kapoor, presented by Louisa Guinness Gallery; Philippe Malouin's solidly geometric plywood lamps and chairs; ghostly screenprinted mirrors by Benjamin Graindorge; Studio Nucleo's "Future Archaeology" collection of wood and resin tables. Just for a start.
Design Miami/ will take place from June 11-16 at Messe Basel Messeplatz in Basel, Switzerland.
