Anja Rubik is one hard-working fashion icon. Besides being the founder and editor of her own magazine (the beautiful 25) she’s also turned her attention to shoe design, joining forces with Giuseppe Zanotti to release a capsule collection. Rubik, who has made regular appearances in Zanotti’s campaigns since she was just 16, was asked to design the capsule after she suggested that Zanotti integrate a glam-punk aesthetic into his work. The five-piece collection of suede and leather heels was inspired by Rubik’s musical heroes, Debbie Harry and David Bowie. Harry’s presence is evident in the footwear’s sleek silhouettes, while Bowie’s influence is seen in the edgy embellishments like leather corset fastenings, collar pin studs, chains and gold hardware.
Rubik was fully involved in the collection’s design and creation, even traveling to Italy to help with production. The pair have released campaign images to run alongside announcements for the collection’s release; the black-and-white images, lensed by Paola Kudacki, feature both Zanotti and Rubik. Stay tuned for the collection, which will be available on ssense.com soon.
