Los Angeles-based experimental electronic project Superhumanoids deliver a mix fueled by the same lush sun-kissed undertones as their 2011 EP, Parasite Paradise, with deep bass and floating melodies that are at once familiar and also something new. Fellow L.A.-native Shlohmo’s Rained the Whole Time, remixed by Chilean producer Nicolas Jaar, creeps in at the mix’s first ambient moments, a soft prelude to heavier bass from Montreal’s own Lunice and Ryan Hemsworth’s bootleg of Thinkin‘ Bout You by Frank Ocean. Yet, as the mix meanders there is moments of Superhumanoid-esque subtleties – dreamy synths and soft vocals from the likes of The 2 Bears, Valentina and Classixx weave in and out, before the mix sensually climaxes with Usher.
Made up of Cameron Parkins, Max St. John and Sarah Chernoff, Los Angeles electronic group Superhumanoids formed in 2009, with their first full-length EP, Urgency released just one year later on Hit City U.S.A. Renowned for their indie-style vocals, ethereal samples and experimental yet accessible dream-pop style, Superhumanoids, make in their own words, “music to help kiss away the doldrums.”
