Aberdeen-based DJ/producer Lockah presents his unique take on “rap-influenced pop music for the club” with a standout mix for our series. With a tracklisting that reads like a who’s who of upcoming producers from across the globe – including Paris-based Andrea Moonchild – who also provided us with a mix, Brooklyn residing Rewrote, Norway’s Cashmere Cat and Canadian producer Ryan Hemsworth – the mix captures the a truly global sound that works just as well in headphones as it does on the dancefloor.

Just one year after co-founding the UK-based independent record label, Tuff Wax, with fellow Aberdonian duo Bones & Money in 2009, Tom Banks started making music as Lockah, gaining early recognition as a resident DJ at Aberdeen’s Acid Thunder nightclub. His debut, experimental EP, When U Stop Feeling Like a Weirdo & Become a Threat, dropped in June 2012 under Jeffree’s – the progressive sub-label to Diplo’s Mad Decent imprint – garnering a cult following before releasing his second EP, Please Lockah, Don’t Hurt ‘Em, in November 2012.
