Based on his recent rockstar-infused campaign images for Saint Laurent, designer-of-the-moment Hedi Slimane's love of music is no secret. For Spring 13, Slimane has rather fittingly teamed up with vocalist-of-the-moment Claire Boucher, aka Grimes, to offer a limited edition capsule collection. The collection is comprised of five t-shirts offered in (true to Saint Laurent form) black and white, with original artwork drawn by Grimes herself. Inspired by the "love posters" designed by Yves Saint Laurent in the 1970s, Grimes created a variety of psychedelic patterns, serpentine graphics, and alien-like creatures intertwined with the house's iconic logo.
The collaboration isn't the first time Slimane has joined forces with Grimes — he shot her for the cover of Dazed & Confused in April of last year — but both have been making waves in their respective industries for some time now. Slimane's rebranding of the legendary house of Yves Saint Laurent along with the aforementioned use of music icons in his latest campaigns has made Slimane one of the most talked about names in the industry this season. Meanwhile experimental synth-pop producer and vocalist Grimes rose to fame in 2012 with Visions, a stunning precursor to her highly anticipated forthcoming LP, set for release later this year.
